Why citizens across the country are learning ‘one sign a day.’
There are currently 8 million deaf citizens in India.
Groups in various cities across India are holding meetings to teach and learn sign language. The movement started as a small initiative by Vishnu Soman to teach hearing individuals sign language.
The initiative soon spread to various cities, and now, a campaign to teach 1 sign per day has been launched, through videos on a Whatsapp group! The short videos are made by interpreters & hearing impaired people.
All of which is done to standardize Indian sign language and become a more inclusive community.
The sign of a better India.
