T.Venkaiah, was recently recognized as one of India's most dedicated workers for his efforts in keeping his neighbourhood spotless and for educating the masses on garbage segregation.

T.Venkaiah, was recently recognized as one of India’s most dedicated workers for his efforts in keeping his neighbourhood spotless. Although his job is to segregate waste, he also cleans several residential areas and educates the masses on sanitation issues.

Venkaiah goes the extra mile to sweep and polish his neighbourhood and help keep his surroundings clean. Thanks to his dedication, he soon became a household name in his neighbourhood, and was lauded not only by locals, but also by the state government.  Most recently, he was given the ‘Swacha Suraksha- 2017’ award by the Prime Minister.

“One does not have to tell Venkaiah to clear the waste. Rain or thunder, he is always punctual. He in fact, educates the residents about solid waste management,” said a resident in one of the areas he maintains, Mohan Reddy Nagar to Deccan Chronicle.
